I am a beginner for trekking and had been on treks, both solo and groups. I enjoyed both, solo treks as well as treks I did with groups. Both have their own pros and cons. But, there are 5 basic rules one must keep in mind before going for a trek or hike. These are:

1. Hydrate yourself : Don't forget to stay well hydrated, while trekking. During trek, our body tends to sweat more as compared to normal days. Hence, it is very important to carry sufficient water along with you. Glucose and lemonade can also be used to hydrate body. Keep in mind that you don't drink plenty of water at one time but take sip of water at regular intervals.

2. Carry dry fruits : dry fruits like cashews, walnuts, raisins, etc. are good companion of trekkers. These are light weight and easy to carry. Trekking burns calories, dry fruits give sudden boost to energy as these are rich in calories.

3. Pack light: The backpack you carry must not be heavy. It should contain only essential items that you need during your trek. Cut-down to all other unnecessary items. Packing, if done in right manner may save a lot of your energy.

4. Map: you must carry a route-map along while trekking, irrelevant to a solo trek or you're trekking with a group. It helps you in stuck to the right direction and also if you are left behind from your group, map will help you to stay on right path.Image result for Trekking pics

5. Medical kit: A medical kit is a must to carry along while going for a trek. It must contain Band-Aids, anti-infection tablets, prescribed medicines (if any), anti-infection solution, Crepe Band-Aids, oxygen cylinder (for higher altitude treks) and any other medicine you may find necessary.

These are the few things one must follow while going for a trek. This will reduce petty chances that may ruin your trek.
